My main intent was to match the main color values as closely as
possible. I was trying to get a painterly look that shows picturesque
detail.
I learned a lot about the importance of custom brushes and that it is important to work on multiple layers.
I need to work on color blending and I still need to work in a background..
Hey, just wanted to say, if you wanted to achieve a unique, "painterly" look, you don't really need to do all that much blending. It looks cool with the texture you've achieved using strong, individual brush strokes. I would say, though, that if you intend to do that, maybe consider using a brush that doesn't have a really soft edge. You've done this well on your clothing, but the softness of the blending on the face makes it look a bit fuzzy. Basically, just think about choosing one way or the other, and really sticking to it. Overall, well done.
