Learning some stuff

Just learned something new about perspective, which is my favorite thing about drawing
I am doing my final speed paint drawing thingy at the bottom left and I wanted to go for a medieval Chinese city at night sort of feel. The rooftop's perspectives were skewed so Ms Saslow taught me a new trick - to trace the vanishing point upwards of the vanishing point that the buildings were facing anyway! SO EXCITING!!

  1. Thank you, Priscilla, for explaining this to the class. The lines on the roof are on an inclined plane. If they were on a flat plane they would converge to the right vanishing point. In order to find the correct vanishing point for these lines on an inclined plane, you must find the "trace line." Erect that straight up from the VPL any length. Then draw a line on the roof that looks correct for you, and continue that line until it crosses the trace line. That is your VP Roof! You can use that to construct all the lines on the room. There is more to this, but this will get you going....
