This is what I have so far. It's not much from previously but I got rid of the distractingly central element (the gateway thingy).
I may not use this idea either. My goal is to make a forest like city at night with lights and stuff everywhere, inspired by the style in Lord of the Rings.
If I do continue on with this I'm going to add buildings constructed on the sides of the trees with the lights on, and also add a lot more textures and greenery.
